As a second-generation Caribbean-born leader of Portuguese and Spanish descent, Val’s upbringing emphasized a deep sense of civic responsibility and community engagement.

His career reflects a unique journey from clinical medicine to the business world, driven by the realization that business has the power to shape public policies affecting millions. Committed to international business collaboration, Val has taken on several leadership roles, including serving as the Global Partnerships & Business Development Lead at the Global Health Impact Network & Funds (GHIN&F).

Currently, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Tanka Lanka Labs, Val spearheads efforts to break down barriers, foster collaboration, and accelerate partnerships within the GHIN&F's extensive cross-sector ecosystem.
